Winnipeg, MB – Residents are reminded tomorrow, October 28, is Election Day in the 2026 Municipal and School Boards Election. Eligible voters can cast their ballot for offices of Mayor, Councillor, and School Trustee.
Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Election Day voting locations
Residents are encouraged to bring their voter’s notice with them when they go to vote. It will make the process quicker and easier.
Eligible voters are encouraged to vote at one of the assigned voting locations on their voter’s notice. They can search their address at winnipeg.ca/wheredoivote for their complete list of voting locations available to them.
Identification requirements
All voters are reminded to check the identification requirements. They are required to bring valid identification that shows their name and current address – such as a driver’s license – when they go to vote.
In the absence of a driver's license, any two documents that together show the person's name and current address will also be accepted. Both must have your name and at least one must have your current address.
Information for Seven Oaks Ward 2 eligible voters
Following the death of School Trustee candidate Derek Dabee, eligible voters for Seven Oaks Ward 2 are advised that, under the Municipal Councils and School Boards Elections Act, the candidate is deemed to have withdrawn from the Election.
Voting for this contest will continue. The four candidates with the most votes will be elected.
Election results
Results will start to be available on the election website shortly after polls close at 8 p.m. They will be updated as results are received from voting locations.
Due to changes made to some school division ward boundaries, there are four wards that extend outside of Winnipeg's city limits. Polling locations in these areas are operated by the local municipalities and ballots cast at them will be hand counted.
This means school trustee results from these polling locations may be delayed and winners may not be declared until October 29. The election website will continue to be updated as results from the neighbouring municipalities are received.
