Election Day is Wednesday, October 28, 2026

Winnipeg, MB – Eligible voters have turned out in record numbers to take advantage of advance voting opportunities across the city.

A total of 50,767 voters participated in advance voting for the 2026 Municipal and School Boards Election. This marks a 21.2% increase from the 41,895 electors who voted in advance in 2022, when the previous advance voting record was set.

Advance voting was available across the city from October 5 – 23. Election staff were in malls, hospitals, care homes, post-secondary schools, and other locations. Community advance voting locations were also open for four days, up from three days in recent elections.

“Every election, our team strives to provide voters with convenient opportunities to take part in the democratic process and having a record advance voting turn out means a lot to everyone involved,” said Sherwood Armbruster, Senior Election Official. “We want to thank everyone who has voted already and encourage all eligible voters who haven’t yet to cast their ballot next week.”

Election Day is Wednesday, October 28. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Election Day voting locations

Voter’s notices outlining election day voting locations have been mailed to all registered voters. Residents are encouraged to bring their notice with them when they go to vote. It will make the process quicker and easier.

Eligible voters are encouraged to vote at one of the assigned voting locations on their voter’s notice. They can search their address at winnipeg.ca/wheredoivote for their complete list of voting locations available to them.

Identification Requirements

All voters are reminded to check the identification requirements. They are required to bring valid identification that shows their name and current address – such as a driver’s license – when they go to vote.

In the absence of a driver's license, any two documents that together show the person's name and current address will also be accepted. Both must have your name and at least one must have your current address.
