The ban will start at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 and be in place until further notice.
Once the ban begins, parking is prohibited overnight (from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m.) on designated streets.
We encourage Winnipeggers to look out for both “Winter Route” and “Snow Route” signs before parking.
People can find out if the ban applies to any address or location by:
- Downloading the Know Your Zone app
- Searching our interactive snow map
- Using the online address lookup tool
- Contacting 311
Remember that the ban is not weather-event dependent. You cannot park on designated routes during designated hours every day starting December 3. This includes times it is not snowing and even if a street looks to have been recently cleared.
Winter routes are major thoroughfares and are used often by emergency vehicles. This makes them priority routes for snow clearing and ice control activities all winter long. Crews can do a more effective and efficient job if major routes are clear of vehicles overnight.
Vehicles parked in violation of the ban may receive a $100 ticket ($75 if paid early). They may also be towed to the towing company’s compound. Vehicle owners are responsible for all associated towing and storage fees.
We will keep the ban on until weather conditions no longer require it. We expect this to be in spring 2026 and will provide a notification once we have lifted it.
