Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires this morning.
Burrows Avenue Fire
At 5:56 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant one-and-a-half storey house in the 400 block of Burrows Avenue.
When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Crews initially launched a defensive attack, transitioning to an offensive attack once it was safe to do so. The fire was declared under control at 7:03 a.m.
Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
Furby Street Fire
At 9:59 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, the WFPS responded to reports of a garage fire in the 600 block of Furby Street.
Upon arrival on scene crews encountered two neighbouring garages fully-engulfed in flames. They launched a fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 10:18 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
