Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Selkirk Avenue and Woodrow Place

Winnipeg, MB – Today, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires.

Selkirk Avenue fire

At 4:34 p.m., WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant and boarded one-storey house in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.

Firefighters attacked the fire, declaring it under control at 4:57 p.m.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available. This house was previously damaged from a fire in November 2018.

Woodrow Place fire

At 5:56 p.m., WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant and boarded apartment building in the 0-100 block of Woodrow Place.

At the scene, firefighters saw smoke coming from the building. No injuries were reported.

Fire crews attacked the fire, declaring it under control at 6:26 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

If you see someone actively entering a vacant building, or removing boards from a building’s windows or doors, call 911 to report the incident immediately.

If you notice boarded windows or doors that have been breached, but you do not see someone actively entering or trying to enter the building, report the incident to 311 by phone or online.
