St. James-Assiniboia Library reopens following renovations

Winnipeg, MB - St. James-Assiniboia Library, 1910 Portage Avenue, reopened as scheduled today following renovations to the main floor. The library had been closed for six weeks.

An expanded reading area with bestselling and recommended books, movies and music welcomes customers upon entering the library. The renovated main floor also features an improved children’s area and a dedicated space just for teens. Accessibility has improved throughout the main floor.

  • All summer programs are now open for registration including the children’s TD Summer Reading Club, eBook and tech workshops and book clubs. All library programs are free.
  • Membership in the library is free if you live in Winnipeg or pay property or business taxes in the City of Winnipeg.
  • The St. James-Assiniboia Library’s summer hours are:

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays: 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Wednesdays and Fridays: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Library opens on Saturdays in Fall/Winter (Labour Day to Victoria Day).

The Winnipeg Public Library’s online service of downloadable eBooks, eMagazines, audiobooks, and streaming movies and music is available 24/7 from winnipeg.ca/library. Library users can use the online My Account service to review their requests and holds and to renew borrowed items.
