Freedom of information is essential to democracy, and you as a Winnipegger have a right to access information.
During Right to Know Week (September 25-October 1), we’re celebrating this important part of a free and open society.
With a click of a button, you can ask for City records from us using our online Access to Information request form.
“The online request form is meant to make life easier for Winnipeggers who want to access their own personal information with the City or access records that we don’t normally make publicly available,” said Denise Jones, the City's Corporate Access and Privacy Officer.
Not only can you request municipal records, but you can also see completed requests for general information that others have made since 2016 in our Open Data portal.
Don’t worry, requests for personal information are not included in Open Data and personal information in the general responses is removed.
We at the City of Winnipeg are committed to greater transparency and accountability.
As part of that commitment, we publish some information proactively, including elected officials’ financial records, audits, budgets and annual reports.
For more information about how the Access to Information process works at the City of Winnipeg, or to request City records, visit our Access and Privacy Office website.
