We’re proud to celebrate and recognize the dedicated Transit staff who keep our city moving.
Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day is marked internationally every March 18. The first-ever transit service happened on that day in France. Back then – more than 350 years ago – it was by horse-drawn carriage.
“Winnipeg Transit staff are united by the common goal of delivering the best possible service,” said Greg Ewankiw, Director of Winnipeg Transit. “Whether it’s on the shop floor, in the driver’s seat, in the office planning for the future, managing one of our many systems behind the scenes, or keeping our customers safe. Everyone has an important role to play.”
Since we began connecting our city and residents October 1882, our service has continued to change and adapt. That is especially true this year as we launch the new Primary Transit Network in June. It will be the biggest change to our service network in our 142-year history.
