Mayor Scott Gillingham today announced his appointments to Winnipeg’s Executive Policy Committee (EPC), naming five City Councillors who will lead Council’s Standing Policy Committees over the coming term.

The new Executive Policy Committee will include:

  • Councillor Jeff Browaty (North Kildonan): Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Finance & Economic Development.
  • Councillor Evan Duncan (Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood): Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Public Works.
  • Councillor Sara MacArthur (River Heights-Fort Garry): Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Water, Waste & Environment.
  • Councillor Lora Meseman (Transcona): Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Community Services.
  • Councillor Vivian Santos (Point Douglas): Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Property & Development.

Gillingham also announced that Councillor Jeff Browaty will serve as Deputy Mayor, while Councillor Vivian Santos will serve as Acting Deputy Mayor.

The appointments bring together experienced members of Council and newly elected councillors, with Meseman and MacArthur joining EPC for the first time.

“I'm really excited about the new City Council and what we can accomplish together over the next four years,” said Mayor Gillingham. “We have a good mix of experienced councillors and new voices bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to City Hall. I'm especially pleased to welcome Councillor Meseman and Councillor MacArthur to EPC, and I want to thank all five councillors for taking on these important responsibilities.”

Gillingham emphasized that collaboration with all members of Council will remain a priority during his second term.

“Winnipeggers have given us a lot of work to do, from improving public safety and City services to building the housing and infrastructure our growing city needs. I'm eager to work with every member of Council to keep moving Winnipeg forward.”

Prior to announcing the appointments, Gillingham met with members of the new City Council to discuss their priorities for the coming term.

Additional appointments to Council boards, commissions and other positions will be addressed at the Organizational Meeting of Council on November 10.
