Winnipeg, MB - Visitors to Brentford Park will soon be able to walk, run, or cycle on a rebuilt pathway.
Construction will begin this month on over 750 metres of asphalt pathway in the park. The project will also include replacing other portions of deteriorated asphalt with grass.
“One of my first announcements following my election in 2011 was for a new play structure in Brentford Park,” said Councillor Brian Mayes. “It’s fitting that all these years later we are returning to announce new funding to rebuild the park’s pathways. By continuing to invest in our green spaces, we are ensuring that new generations of families and community members can enjoy the many wonderful benefits our parks have to offer. I’m proud to have been involved in over 50 such projects throughout the St. Vital ward during my 15 years on Council.”
The new pathway is expected to be ready for use this fall.
The budget for the project is $284,000, funded through the City of Winnipeg's local street renewal program.
