Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a gas leak and a structure fire yesterday.
Langside Street gas leak
At 8:13 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2026, the WFPS responded to reports of a natural gas smell at a vacant residence in the 400 block of Langside Street.
When crews arrived, they detected elevated gas levels inside the home.
Firefighters evacuated several neighbouring homes as a precaution and closed the surrounding area to traffic. Manitoba Hydro crews located and repaired the leak.
Once gas levels returned to safe levels, residents were allowed to return to their homes and the road was reopened.
No injuries were reported.
Adsum Drive fire
At 8:38 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2026, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 100 block of Adsum Drive.
When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the home. Crews entered the house and launched an interior fire attack, bringing the fire under control at 8:53 a.m.
The occupants had safely evacuated before crews arrived. Paramedics assessed one person at the scene, but they did not require transport to hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Firefighters located and rescued a cat from the house.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
