Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Inkster Boulevard

Released: March 20, 2026 at 8:15 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:08 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a monitored fire alarm in an industrial / commercial structure in the 1700 block of Inkster Boulevard.

When crews arrived, they found that the automatic sprinkler system had activated and kept the fire contained to the room where it started. The WFPS HazMat team also responded because industrial cleaning chemicals were stored in the building. After assessing the scene, they confirmed the chemicals were not involved in the fire.

Firefighters entered the building and extinguished the fire, bringing it under control at 5:07 a.m.

All employees evacuated safely before crews arrived, and no injuries were reported. Once the fire was extinguished and the area was ventilated, employees were able to return to the facility.

The fire remains under investigation, but preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental.

Damage estimates are not available.
