Winnipeg, MB – At 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 700 block of Garfield Street North.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found smoke coming from the house. Firefighters entered and launched an interior fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 7:51 a.m.
All occupants of the house evacuated. Paramedics assessed three individuals. Two were transported to hospital, one in stable condition and the other in unstable condition. No other injuries were reported.
The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team was activated to provide temporary support to displaced residents.
Firefighters located and rescued one cat.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
Water from firefighting efforts will freeze and create slippery conditions. City crews will monitor the area and apply sand and de‑icing materials to roads and sidewalks as needed to improve traction.
