Residential Parking Ban starts Thursday morning

Drivers reminded to check zone and schedule before parking, park elsewhere during ban to avoid ticket and tow

Winnipeg, MB – The time has come to clear residential neighbourhoods of ice and snow.

A residential parking ban will be in effect Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 7 a.m. until Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 7 p.m..

We will suspend the winter route parking ban for the duration of the residential ban.

Drivers may park overnight on designated winter routes Thursday and Friday.

Drivers must continue to adhere to any temporary or unrelated on-street signage that may prohibit parking on these routes. This includes things like no parking during rush hour and loading zones.

We will reinstate the winter route parking ban when the residential ban ends. This will once again prohibit parking on designated winter routes daily, from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Residents should confirm their zone letter in advance. 

Residents can find their zone by:

Vehicles parked in violation of the residential parking ban may receive a $200 ticket ($150 if paid early).

We will use Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology to identify vehicles parked illegally.

This technology helps us:

  • Enforce parking restrictions across more of the city
  • Improve compliance with restrictions
  • Improve our snow clearing service

ALPR tickets will be mailed rather than put on windshields. Enforcement officers will continue to hand-deliver tickets when necessary.

Reporting a missed street:

Residents should wait until the ban is lifted as crews may return at any point before the residential parking ban is lifted.

Additional information:

Approximately 300 pieces of heavy equipment will be used for this snow clearing operation. We remind people to drive to conditions and to use extreme caution when driving near heavy equipment.
