Winnipeg, MB – Firefighters declared the fire under control at 8:50 a.m. No injuries have been reported.
Water used by firefighters to put the fire out has frozen on the road and sidewalk. Crews from Public Works are on scene to assess the roadway, remove snow and ice, and apply sand as needed.
Please continue to avoid the area until all emergency crews leave the scene.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Nairn Avenue
Winnipeg, MB – At 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a commercial building in the 800 block of Nairn Avenue.
At the scene, firefighters found heavy flames coming from the building. Firefighters are using aerial ladders to spray water on the fire as it is unsafe to attempt to enter the building.
No injuries have been reported.
Crews are expected to be on scene throughout the morning. Nairn Avenue is closed in both directions from Chester Street to Kent Road. Please avoid the area.
