Election Day is Wednesday, October 28, 2026

Winnipeg, MB – Preparations are well underway for the 2026 City of Winnipeg Municipal and School Boards Election.

Eligible voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballot for the offices of Mayor, Councillor, and School Trustee on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Starting today, you can visit the official election website at winnipeg.ca/election2026.

You’ll find information on the nomination process for interested candidates, voter eligibility, legislation, and more. The easy-to-use website will continue to be updated leading up to Election Day.

“While Election Day is still 10 months away, it’s important we share as much information now so people can understand what is involved with running for public office,” said Sherwood Armbruster, Senior Election Official. “As we get closer to October 28, we hope eligible voters visit the website to find out where and how they can cast their ballot.”

You can also learn more about the upcoming election, including what goes on behind-the-scenes, on this month’s Our City, Our Podcast episode. It can be found on all major podcasting apps or by visiting winnipeg.ca/ourpodcast.
