Winnipeg, MB – At 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey, single-family residence in the 300 block of Salter Street.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house, with fire spreading to two neighbouring houses. Firefighters initially launched an interior fire attack but deteriorating conditions forced them to exit and transition to a defensive fire attack. Once conditions improved, they were able to re-enter the house to finish extinguishing the fire. The fire was declared under control at 12:02 a.m.
All occupants of the house self-evacuated prior to the arrival of WFPS crews. There were no occupants in the two neighbouring houses at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The house sustained significant smoke, fire and water damage. The two neighbouring houses sustained some exterior damage. Damage estimates are not available.
The fire is under investigation.
