Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires this afternoon.
Stradbrook Avenue fire
At 12:16 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a high-rise apartment building in the 200 block of Stradbrook Avenue.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found smoke coming from the building. They entered and located the suite where the fire originated. An interior fire attack was launched, and the fire was declared extinguished at 12:40 p.m.
Most occupants of the building were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. Some were directed to shelter in place. No injuries were reported.
Damages were primarily contained to the suite where the fire originated. Most residents were able to return to their suites once the fire was extinguished and the building was ventilated.
Damage estimates are not available.
Polson Avenue fire
At 3:31 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, one-and-a-half storey house in the 400 block of Polson Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene, firefighters found smoke coming from the house. They entered and launched an interior fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 3:48 p.m.
A search of the house was completed, and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
