Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Ellice Avenue and Midwinter Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to two structure fires this morning.

Midwinter Avenue fire

At 5:33 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 200 block of Midwinter Avenue.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters entered and launched an interior fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 6:54 a.m.

Crews searched the house and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported.

The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available. The house sustained significant smoke, fire and water damage.

 

Ellice Avenue fire

At 2:42 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant and boarded, single-storey commercial building in the 600 block of Ellice Avenue.

Winnipeg Police Service members arrived first to the scene and used fire extinguishers to slow the fire from spreading on the exterior of the building. When firefighters arrived, they used hose lines to completely extinguish the fire.

Firefighters searched the building and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
