Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a gas leak on Riverton Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:56 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a gas leak in the 300 block of Riverton Avenue.

At the scene, crews found a leaking gas line near the roadway. Firefighters evacuated seven houses. Winnipeg Transit provided a bus for temporary shelter for evacuated residents. No injuries were reported.

Manitoba Hydro responded to the scene to repair the leak. By 7:30 p.m., all residents returned to their homes and all WFPS crews left the scene.
