Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service performs water rescue on Red River

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:14 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of an individual in the Red River, near the Redwood Bridge.  

Once on scene, crews located the individual in the water. Using boats, the WFPS Water Rescue team rescued the individual from the water and brought them to shore.

The patient was assessed and treated by paramedics and then transported to hospital in stable condition.

At this time, it is not known why the individual came to be in the water, or how long they were there.
