Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Academy Road

Released: August 8, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:25 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey duplex in the 100 block of Academy Road.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found smoke coming from the structure. They entered and fought the fire from the interior. The fire was declared under control at 10:59 a.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to the arrival of responders. No injuries were reported.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team was activated, providing temporary support for displaced residents.

The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
