Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Main Street

Released: July 4, 2025 at 4 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:03 a.m. on Friday, July 4, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a side-by-side house in the 1000 block of Main Street.

When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire, using an aerial ladder to spray water from above while also using other firefighting tactics. Firefighters evacuated neighbouring homes as a precaution while they worked on scene. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters switched between offensive and defensive attacks until they declared the fire under control at 12:45 p.m. Due to hot weather conditions, firefighters rotated crews frequently.

Firefighters rescued two cats. The City of Winnipeg Animal Services Agency responded to help the cats.

The fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available, but the home is expected to be a total loss.
