Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two recent structure fires.
Fairlane Avenue fire
At 4:11 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment building in the 200 block of Fairlane Avenue.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. Firefighters launched an interior fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 6:01 p.m.
All occupants of the building self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. Firefighters rescued multiple cats from the building. The City’s Animal Services Agency attended the scene to care for the animals.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Home Street fire
At 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey house in the 500 block of Home Street.
Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters initially launched a fire attack from the exterior of the house as it was not safe to enter.
Once it was safe to do so, they made entry into the house and transitioned to an interior fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 7:13 p.m.
Crews completed a search of the house and no occupants were found. One cat was located deceased.
The fire is under investigation.
