First new public indoor pool in 40+ years among features for proposed East of the Red RecPlex

Released: February 4, 2025 at 10:04 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeggers are invited to share their feedback on the design for the proposed East of the Red RecPlex, a landmark project to build the City’s first new public indoor pool in over four decades.

Located at the north-west corner of Transcona Boulevard and Plessis Road, next to the Transcona Library, the proposed recreation centre is intended to be a vibrant hub for families and individuals alike. The proposed centre will include a lap pool, leisure pool, lazy river, waterslides, gymnasiums, fitness space, walking/running track, café, and more.

Based on previous public input, the design now includes outdoor play areas and a potential childcare centre. Further feedback will help shape the preliminary design before City Council review.

Residents are invited to learn more about the project at open house events held at the Transcona Library on February 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and on February 19 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

An online survey is also available, and feedback is welcomed until March 3, 2025.

For more information about the open house events, to take the online survey, and for more information about the proposed facility, visit: winnipeg.ca/eastofthered.
