Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to two recent structure fires.
Harbison Avenue West fire
At 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire at a two-storey house in the 300 block of Harbison Avenue West.
When they arrived on scene, crews found heavy flames and smoke coming from the structure. They launched a fire attack from the outside, using foam and water to extinguish the flames. The fire was knocked down at 11:58 p.m.
Occupants of the home self-evacuated before crews arrived on scene. There were no injuries reported.
The house suffered smoke, water and fire damage. A neighbouring house also sustained smoke and water damage from the fire. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Sargent Avenue fire
At 6:04 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024, WFPS responded to reports of a fire at a commercial building in the 1700 block of Sargent Avenue.
Smoke was coming from the building when crews arrived on scene. They went inside and launched a fire attack, using hose lines to apply water to the fire. It was declared under control at 6:32 a.m.
Firefighters completed a search of the building and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.
Damage estimates are not available at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
