Released: November 18, 2024 at 2:40 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:19 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire at a bungalow in the 300 block of Collegiate Street.

When firefighters arrived on scene, smoke was coming from the house, and the fire was well involved. Crews went inside and launched a fire attack, using hose lines to apply water to the fire. It was declared under control at 12:49 p.m.

Occupants of the house self-evacuated before crews arrived on scene. One person was assessed by paramedics and transported to hospital in unstable condition.

Once the fire was under control, firefighters searched the house and located one cat. The City of Winnipeg’s Animal Services Agency responded to provide care for the cat.

The house sustained water, fire and smoke damage. Damage estimates are not available.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
