Winnipeg, MB – At 12:04 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of fire at a two-storey house in the 700 block of Flora Avenue.
Winnipeg Police arrived on scene first, and they rescued one person who was still inside the house. Paramedics assessed the patient and transported them to hospital in unstable condition.
When firefighters arrived to the scene, smoke was coming from the structure. They launched a fire attack and used hose lines to put it out. It was declared under control at 12:38 a.m.
The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team helped find temporary accommodations for displaced residents.
The house was damaged by fire, smoke and water. Damage estimates are not available.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
