Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Logan Avenue

Released: May 18, 2024 at 2:26 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:29 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, industrial/commercial structure in the 900 block of Logan Avenue. The building was previously damaged by fire in August 2023. Due to the damage, parts of the building had been demolished.

When crews arrived to the scene this morning, they found smoke coming from the remaining structure, with visible flames on the interior. A defensive fire attack was launched, as it was not safe to enter the building. Crews are expected to remain on scene throughout the afternoon as they work to drown out the fire.

Logan Avenue, between Arlington Street and McPhillips Street, will remain closed until crews clear the scene. Residents are asked to avoid the area. Railway traffic on an adjacent track has been stopped as a precaution.

At this time, no injuries have been reported.

The fire is under investigation.
