Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Winnipeg Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey residence in the 800 block of Winnipeg Avenue.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found smoke coming from the building. They attacked the fire from inside, declaring the fire under control at 8:33 p.m.

Firefighters located one individual inside the building. The person was assessed and treated by paramedics and transported to hospital in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation, but preliminary observations suggest it was accidental. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
