Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Mountain Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:05 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant three-storey apartment building in the 300 block of Mountain Avenue.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found heavy, black smoke coming from the structure. Crews initially launched a defensive fire attack from the exterior of the building, but once conditions improved they were able to enter to complete extinguishment of the fire. The fire was declared under control at 11:20 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the building an no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation. The building had previously been damaged by fire in August 2023.
