Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to structure fires on Quincy Bay and Powers Street

Winnipeg, MB – Overnight, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fires in two homes.

Quincy Bay

At 9:34 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a house in the 0-100 block of Quincy Bay.

At the scene, firefighters saw heavy flames and smoke coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire from the outside because the fire was so involved it was unsafe to enter. Once conditions improved, firefighters attacked the fire from the inside, declaring it under control at 10:12 p.m.

No people were inside the house at the time of the fire. Paramedics assessed one person and no transportation to hospital was required. Three dogs and one cat were located deceased inside the home. Firefighters searched the home to locate the animals once it was safe to enter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Powers Street

At 3:37 a.m. on September 16, 2023, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a house in the 200 block of Powers Street.

At the scene, crews saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the house, declaring the fire under control at 4:01 a.m.

Firefighters searched the house and no one was located. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
