Winnipeg, MB – At 6:56 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 300 block of Yale Avenue West.

When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house, with fire extending to the neighbouring two-storey house. Crews initially fought the fire from the exterior of the homes. Once additional crews arrived, they were able to enter the homes to fight the fires. The fires in both homes were declared under control by 7:45 p.m.

All occupants of the home where the fire originated self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. There were no occupants in the other home at the time of the fire. Paramedics assessed five individuals at the scene. All five were transported to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Both homes sustained significant fire, smoke and water damage.
