Public invited to meeting regarding Lyndale Drive retaining wall study

Released: January 21, 2016 at 11:43 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB - You’re invited to a public meeting regarding the Lyndale Drive retaining wall study.

The City of Winnipeg is beginning a preliminary engineering study of the retaining wall on Lyndale Drive which forms a portion of the City’s primary diking system to defend against flooding along the Red River. The riverbank has a history of instability, and an existing timber retaining wall between Gauvin Ave. and Monck Ave. is nearing the end of its design life. A study is required to develop a preliminary design for replacement, rehabilitation, or removal of the retaining wall.

You are invited to a public meeting to get background information on the project, and to provide input into the planning and design process. The study aims to take into account the broad range of transportation, environmental and community priorities important to the project, including pedestrian and cycling facilities.
