Winnipeg, MB - In a demonstration of the City’s commitment to openness and transparency in communicating with citizens, the full Comprehensive Assessment of the City of Winnipeg’s Water System as it Relates to Recent Boil Water Advisories report is now available on the City’s website.

“I am pleased that, as committed, citizens can access the external review of the precautionary boil water event from this past January on the City of Winnipeg website,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “It’s important that Winnipeggers have access to the analysis that determines the safety of our City’s water.”

On April 30, 2015, the City of Winnipeg submitted a report to the Office of Drinking Water, the regulator of drinking water in Manitoba, to relay the findings and recommendations of an external assessment of the City of Winnipeg’s water system. The executive summary of the report was released on May 1, 2015.

The Comprehensive Assessment of City’s Water System as it Relates to Recent Boil Water Advisories report concludes:

  • that the water was safe
  • that positive samples that led to the recent precautionary boil water advisories were, according to the assessment, most likely related to either sampling or analytical processes.
