St. Vital and Transcona remain open today; caution advised on roadways

Winnipeg, MB - Brookside Cemetery grounds will remain closed Saturday, to ensure public and property safety following overnight snowfall and heavy drifting today due to windy conditions. St Vital and Transcona cemeteries will remain open today, but visitors are advised to proceed with caution, as some areas are deep with drifted snow.

Based on forecasts indicating winds will lessen today, crews will work from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Sunday to commence snow clearing at all three cemeteries. Grounds will remain closed at all three cemeteries on Sunday until 10 a.m., to permit crews an optimum and safe start to clearing the cemetery roadways.

At Brookside, all main routes to current interment sections will be cleared by noon on Sunday, with all remaining areas being cleared throughout Monday and Tuesday. Transcona and St Vital will be fully accessible by Monday mid-day.

All funerals will proceed as booked.
