Residential fire on Pritchard Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - At 5:47 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014, firefighters and paramedics from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a report of a fire in a two-storey home in the four-hundred block of Pritchard Avenue. When crews arrived to the scene, heavy smoke was emanating from a second-floor bedroom window. Five stations responded, and crews were able to access the fire and bring it under control quickly.

The home’s nine occupants, five adults and four children, self-evacuated before fire crews arrived. Paramedics checked the occupants as a precaution, but there were no injuries reported.

The wood-framed home sustained fire damage on the first and second floors, and smoke and water damage throughout. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
