Winnipeg, MB - Starting Wednesday, May 7, 2014, and continuing until the end of August, City water meter readers will be visiting homes weekdays between 2:30 p.m. and dusk.
Meter readers will be dressed in dark blue pants or shorts, and a light blue striped shirt with a City of Winnipeg Water and Waste logo over the chest pocket. All readers wear photo identification and carry a hand-held computer.
Residents are urged to check identification before allowing a meter reader into their home. Meter readers only record water meter readings, and do not collect money.
Meter readings are required four times a year. The City assists customers with this by:
- mailing a meter reading reminder card three times a year (from September to May),
- visiting homes during the summer (from May to August) to read the water meter.
Regular meter readings can help save money - they prevent estimated bills and can assist in the early detection of costly plumbing leaks.
For more information on water meter reading or billing, residents can contact the Utility Billing Centre by phone at 204-986-2455 or by email.
