Winnipeg, MB - City of Winnipeg crews are in a ‘ready-to-serve’ position to deal with today’s snowfall. The current weather forecasts predict snowfall and winds increasing in the City this evening and overnight. Based on the most recent forecasts, the City is planning to deliver the following services, in keeping with Council's Snow Clearing and Ice Control Policy:
Priority 1 streets (regional) - Salting will be used when conditions warrant application. Truck plow operations are ready and will be deployed when required to improve road conditions.
Priority 2 street (collector/bus routes) - Maintenance sanding will take place at priority locations. A decision will be made for a truck or grader plow operation if conditions warrant.
Priority 3 streets (residential) - Crews are monitoring the residential road network. Areas prone to drifting are being monitored and will be addressed with spot plowing and sanding as required.
Priority 1, 2 and 3 sidewalks - Crews will monitor the city’s sidewalk network throughout the evening and into tomorrow, and will determine whether a full sidewalk plowing/blowing operation of the P1, P2 and P3 sidewalk network is required.
Back Lanes - Back lane conditions will be assessed by crews during this snow event and a decision will be made if conditions warrant clearing.
Citizens are urged to use caution in and around snow clearing equipment.
Plowing operations were completed in accordance with the City Council-approved Snow Clearing and Ice Control Policy, which can be found online at City of Winnipeg - Snow Clearing Policy.
