The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded us a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the eighth year in a row. The award recognizes our work on the 2025 budget.
According to the GFOA, the award represents a significant achievement. It is given to budgets that meet nationally recognized guidelines for communicating a government’s policies, financial plans, and operations to the public.
The budget also received special recognition in performance measures and is an outstanding winner for two other categories:
- Department/Fund Relationship
- Departmental/Program Goals and Objectives
This recognition is given when the budget receives the highest “outstanding” score from three reviewers.
The 2025 budget is the product of months of collaboration between City departments and elected officials.
“There is an incredible amount of work that goes into creating the budget document,” said Tracy Graham, the City’s Chief Financial Officer.
“GFOA has a detailed and robust scoring process. We are being measured against a large North American network of our peers by our peers. This is an outstanding report back from reviewers.”
There are over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program. The program highlights efforts to improve the quality of budgeting, providing positive examples for other governments throughout North America.
The GFOA represents public finance officials throughout Canada and the United States. It has more than 25,000 members from all levels of government, including cities, counties, schools and other special districts.
