Mayor Scott Gillingham today released a comprehensive update outlining the progress made on the commitments he presented to Winnipeggers during the 2022 municipal election.
The report tracks the status of 90 specific platform commitments, with 57 delivered and at least partial action taken on another 23, alongside significant accomplishments that were not part of the original platform but a response to emerging challenges and opportunities facing the city.
"Four years ago, I committed to being a mayor who would focus on getting things done," said Mayor Scott Gillingham. "While there is always more work to do, I'm proud that we've delivered meaningful results for Winnipeggers by working collaboratively with community partners and other levels of government. Together, we've made important progress on the priorities that matter most to families: public safety, housing, infrastructure, economic growth, and building a city people are proud to call home."
Among the highlights included in the report are:
- Fully funding Winnipeg's share of the North End Water Pollution Control Centre, construction on Phase II is underway on the largest infrastructure project in the city's history.
- Led a successful national campaign for stronger bail laws, resulting in changes to federal legislation aimed at addressing repeat violent offenders.
- Delivering record housing growth, helping reverse a decline in rental vacancy rates while accelerating new housing through zoning reform and the Housing Accelerator Fund.
- Reducing average 311 wait times by more than 80 per cent, improving customer service and making it easier for residents to access City services.
- Fully funding tree pruning and planting programs, outpacing annual tree loss for the first time in two decades.
- Launching the Community Safety Team and Neighbourhood Action Teams.
- Advancing major downtown projects, including the redevelopment of Portage Place.
Since 2022, Winnipeg has also experienced strong economic momentum, including record levels of private investment, increased housing construction, major infrastructure funding commitments, and continued collaboration with governments and community organizations to address shared priorities.
"None of this progress happens alone," said Gillingham added. "These accomplishments reflect the work of City Council, public servants, community organizations, businesses, and residents who all share a commitment to moving Winnipeg forward.”
