Residents invited to provide input on proposed recommendations for managing garbage and recycling

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is inviting residents to provide feedback on proposed recommendations to improve how we manage garbage and recycling as part of the review of the Comprehensive Integrated Waste Management Strategy (CIWMS).

City Council approved the CIWMS in 2011. It guides how the City collects, sorts, and gets rid of garbage and recycling. It also provides a roadmap for new programs and services that help fight climate change.

In fall 2023, the City asked residents and stakeholders to provide feedback on how we could improve our garbage and recycling facilities, programs, and services. What we heard helped shape proposed recommendations to improve our strategy for reducing and managing waste.

Now, we want to hear from residents on the proposed recommendations.

Residents can view the proposed recommendations and provide feedback at one of two open houses on June 13 and June 20, 2024. An online survey is also available until June 27, 2024.

For more information about the project and to learn more about engagement opportunities, see: winnipeg.ca/wastestrategy.
