Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to three structure fires

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to three structure fires.

Stella Avenue fire
At 9:26 p.m. on Monday, May 13, WFPS crews responded to reports of fire at a vacant, boarded up two-storey residential building in the 600 block of Stella Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they saw smoke coming from the structure. They launched a fire attack, fighting the fire from outside the building until conditions improved. Firefighters entered the building to finish putting the fire out. It was declared under control at 10 p.m.

Firefighters completed a search of the building and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Damage estimates are not available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Manitoba Avenue fire
At 12:57 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, WFPS crews responded to reports of fire at a one-and-a-half-storey house in the 700 block of Manitoba Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke coming from the structure. They launched an offensive fire attack, fighting the fire from inside. It was declared under control at 1:17 a.m.

Residents of the home evacuated before WFPS crews arrived on scene. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

St. John’s Avenue fire
At 3:18 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, WFPS crews responded to reports of a structure fire in the 600 block of St. John’s Avenue.

When they arrived on scene, they found fire in a detached garage. Firefighters launched a fire attack, using water and foam to put the fire out. It was under control by 3:39 a.m.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and damage estimates are not available.
