Calling all children and youth from kindergarten to grade 12! We want to see what an anti-racist Winnipeg looks like to you.
Our Anti-Racism Art Contest is back, providing children and youth with the opportunity to be creative, and share their knowledge and feelings about how to be inclusive and create welcoming spaces for their peers.
How to participate
Draw your ideas and thoughts on an anti-racist Winnipeg in the space provided on page 4 of the art contest booklet. The booklet is available in several different languages:
*Verified translations provided by the Language Bank.
Submit your artwork by email, mail, or in person for a chance to have it featured in City of Winnipeg publications! Selected artwork will be on the cover of the City of Winnipeg’s Priceless Fun brochure this fall. Submitted artwork may be used in other City of Winnipeg publications, too!
The deadline for submissions is July 10.
Building more inclusive spaces
Our Recreation Services division works in collaboration with Equitas – International Centre for Human Rights Education to bring awareness to children’s rights through an educational approach.
Children and youth who attend our programs learn about their rights and human rights values such as cooperation, respect for diversity, inclusion, and responsibility.
Learn more about anti-racism
Winnipeg Public Library has put together an anti-racism resource guide full of books, videos, and websites to help people learn about forms of racism and what it means to be anti-racist.
We also have a Children’s Anti-Racism Activity Toolkit that helps engage children in learning about important topics like racism, discrimination, equality, and reconciliation.
