It’s that time of year again. The Annual Winter Route Parking Ban will soon go into effect until the spring melt.
This means you should not park your vehicle on a designated winter route starting on January 16 between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. daily. Otherwise you may receive a ticket and may be towed.
“Designated snow routes are a priority for our snow clearing and ice control crews,” said Michael Cantor, Manager of Streets Maintenance.
“We also need to make sure our emergency vehicles can quickly and safely navigate our city.”
When people avoid parking on winter routes overnight, it allows crews to clear these critical routes more effectively and keep them safe for all Winnipeggers.

- Contacting 311
Remember that the ban is not weather-event dependent. You cannot park on designated routes during designated hours every day starting at 2 a.m. on January 16. This includes times it is not snowing and even if a street looks to have been recently cleared.
If you park in violation of the ban, you may receive a $100 ticket ($75 if paid early). Your vehicle may also be towed to the towing company’s compound.
We will keep the ban on until weather conditions no longer require it. We expect this to be in spring 2024 and will send you another email when the ban is no longer in place.
