DMIS is now more accessible, reliable, and user-friendly

Winnipeg City Hall exterior in winter

Following along with what’s happening at City Hall just got easier.

We’ve launched a new Decision Making Information System. Also known as DMIS, it’s where all City Hall meeting agendas, reports, and minutes are kept. It can be accessed at dmis.winnipeg.ca

If you’ve used DMIS before, you’ll notice several improvements.

What’s new

The new system is more user-friendly. An enhanced search feature helps you find what you’re looking for faster and more reliably.

“It’s now designed in a way to help people who aren’t sure what report they’re looking for find it,” said Carlos Gameiro, City Clerk. “Previously, the search feature worked best if you knew exactly what item you were looking for.”

Another useful feature is you can set reminders to track certain agenda items as they move through the committee process.

Enhanced reliability

The previous system was nearly 25 years old and ran on outdated technology. Not only is the new DMIS more reliable, but it now meets web accessibility standards.

A big upgrade people who attend meetings in person will notice is that DMIS is now mobile-friendly.

“We’ve completely rebuilt our Decision Making Information System to make it faster, easier, and more accessible to use on any device,” said Marceli Walczak, Director of Innovation & Technology.

Engage with City Hall

Information on how to participate at City Hall is more prominently displayed. This means it’s now easier to find out how to register as a delegate or submit written comments. These are ways you can help shape decisions made at City Hall.

Keep in mind, if you’re interested in speaking as a delegation, you must complete the registration form by noon the business day before the meeting. If the meeting is on a Monday, the form must be received by noon the Friday before the meeting.

Submitting written comments follows the same timeline.

If you’d rather watch the committee meetings, all committee meetings are livestreamed on our YouTube channel. The new DMIS also makes it easier to access the livestream from the meeting agenda.

History preserved

While the previous system was nearly 25 years old, it had information far older than that on it. In fact, it had some records dating as far back as 1990.

All previous records were transferred over to the new site.

“Decades worth of history at City Hall is housed in our Decision Making Information System and it was important we made sure it all remained accessible,” said Gameiro.

If you have any bookmarks to the old system, you’ll want to update them to dmis.winnipeg.ca.
