Street & sidewalk closures
Road closures start on Thursday, May 15 to accommodate the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Parties and associated set-up and teardown:
Southbound Donald Street between Portage Avenue and St. Mary Avenue
- Thursday, May 15 at 9 a.m. until Friday, May 16 at 7 a.m.
Eastbound and westbound Graham Avenue, between Hargrave Street and Smith Street
- Thursday, May 15 from 9 a.m. until Friday, May 16 at 7 a.m.
Allow additional travel time to get to your destination, and use alternate routes such as Main Street and Osborne Street.
Transit reroutes
Winnipeg Transit
Winnipeg Transit buses will be rerouted off of Graham Avenue between Kennedy and Smith starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 15 with regular service resuming on Friday, May 16.
Buses will be unable to stop for passengers during the detour. Passengers who wish to catch buses affected by the reroutes are directed to stops at these intersections:
- Graham Avenue and Vaughn Street
- Graham Avenue and Fort Street
Winnipeg Transit Plus
During the reroutes, the Winnipeg Transit Plus loading zone on southbound Donald Street at Graham Avenue will be temporarily relocated to eastbound Portage Avenue next to the Radisson Hotel. The Millennium Library Winnipeg Transit Plus loading zone will be temporarily relocated to eastbound front driveway of the Winnipeg Police Service headquarters, and the City Place Winnipeg Transit Plus loading zone will be relocated to northbound Hargrave Street on the north side of St. Mary Avenue.
Millennium Library
The Millennium Library will be closing early on Thursday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m.
Millennium Library Parkade
Donald Street entrance and exit will be closed starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 15. The Parkade will be open for regular hours on Friday, May 16.
Safety
The Winnipeg Police Service will have additional officers and resources deployed on game days, and residents can expect to see an increased police presence before and after the games.
Attendees should keep the following the mind:
- Keep personal belongings to a minimum. Security will be restricting access on large bags and backpacks. More information can be found at Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party.
- Designate a meeting place with family and friends before you arrive, especially if there are young children involved. Large crowds are expected, increasing the chances of becoming inadvertently separated from your group.
- Consider carpooling with friends or family, walking or cycling, or taking public transit to help reduce congestion and delays. Parking will be at a premium in and around Canada Life Centre.
- Please drink responsibly. Unless you are in a designated licensed area, open liquor is prohibited.
- Reminder: Canada's cannabis laws prohibit smoke/use cannabis in your vehicle or in public, including sidewalks, parks, school grounds, & restaurants patios.
- Be aware of your surroundings. If something doesn't look right flag down an officer and let them know, or call the police at 9-1-1 or 204-986-6222.
Drones
Private drone use is prohibited over crowds, and operators could face serious penalties.
Private drones must be operated away from bystanders, crowds, emergency operations and advertised events.
A drone's loss of control or malfunction poses a serious risk of injury to the public. Unauthorized drone use may also interfere with certified/authorized aircraft in the area, including violation of Transport Canada regulations.
