We are proud to support the 2SLGBTQQIA+ communities.

In celebration of Pride, we have wrapped a Winnipeg Transit bus again. The bus will debut at the Winnipeg Pride Parade on Sunday, June 7. The new design includes Progress Pride Flag colours and encourages everyone to Ride with Pride

“The Ride with Pride bus is a beacon of solidarity all year long,” said Diane Burelle, our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Projects and Initiatives Coordinator. “I have heard from organizations and individuals on just how significant it is to have this visible and beautiful show of support of the 2SLGBTQQIA+ communities. It makes a big difference.”

Winnipeg Transit’s graphic design team, in collaboration with our Pride City of Winnipeg Professional Equity Network, created the design. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our partner, PATTISON Outdoor Advertising, the bus will remain wrapped until May 2027.

“The design of the Pride bus wrap was influenced by the idea that the flag unifies diverse communities and can cause a positive ripple effect in society,” said Nik Thavisone, one of Winnipeg Transit's graphic designers. “The flag is the focal point of the design. It flows from front to back, impacting everyone in its path.”

We stand with our 2SLGBTQQIA+ employees, their families, friends, and allies

We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming work environment for all. We strive to ensure all employees feel like they belong. Our Pride Professional Equity Network provides a support system for 2SLGBTQQIA+ employees.

We also offer a variety of training opportunities for employees. This includes our Pronouns and Gender Inclusive Language course. It looks at how misgendering, or using the wrong pronouns, can feel. It also shares best practices to avoid misgendering.

The Winnipeg Public Library also has an extensive 2SLGBTQQIA+ Info Guide. It is a space to explore 2SLGBTQQIA+ books, resources, and history. It also includes terms and definitions to help have respectful conversations. Whether you’re part of the community or an ally, the guide offers something for everyone on their learning journey.

Later in June, there are two more Pride-related events residents can take part in:

Say hi to us at the Winnipeg Pride Parade

On Sunday, June 7, you’ll see many of our employees showing their support for the community at the Winnipeg Pride Parade. The parade will start at 11 a.m. at Memorial Boulevard and St. Mary Avenue. It will end approximately an hour later near Blue Cross Park.

When you see us walking alongside the Ride with Pride bus, make sure you wave and say hi.

Happy Pride, Winnipeg!
