The Commuter Challenge is the perfect time to try a new way to get around.

This annual week is a reminder that there are many ways you can choose to travel sustainably

Whether you choose to walk, cycle, carpool, or bus, finding other ways to travel can help reduce traffic and lower emissions.

So, this year, consider giving Transit a try for one or more of your trips.

Why try Transit during the Commuter Challenge?

Transit is an affordable, convenient option for many trips. Even taking Transit for just some of your trips can have a big impact. Some of the benefits of Transit include:

  • Saving money on gas and parking
  • Avoiding the stress of driving
  • Using your commute time to read, check messages, or relax

Each sustainable trip you take from May 31 until June 6 earns you a chance to win great prizes.

Make Transit part of your commute

If Transit doesn’t take you all the way to your destination, there are ways to help complete your trip.

Our Park & Rides are a great option if your home isn’t as close as you’d like it to be to a Transit stop. Simply park your car at one of 11 locations and then board a bus to your destination.

If you want to avoid driving completely, try combining cycling and Transit in a single trip. With Bike & Bus, you can stow your bike on the front of select buses. Buses with bicycle racks are first assigned to the BLUE line, followed by other routes as available. You can plan your cycling trip by using our interactive Cycling Network Map. On the day you plan to travel, use Navigo or the Winnipeg Transit app to see in real-time which buses have bicycle racks on them.

Plan your next trip

Navigo is the simplest way to plan your trip with Transit. Enter where you’re going and when, and it will give you several options to choose from. You can also download the Winnipeg Transit app to plan your trip from your phone.

If you’ve never used Transit before, or haven’t in a while, this is a good time to give it a try. All the information you need is available on our website.

Start with one trip and see how it can fit with your routine. We’re continually making improvements, and it might be easier than you think.
