It is important to us that all residents can access our programs and services. From swimming pools to libraries, we want to make sure our facilities can be used by everyone.

We know it can be frustrating to arrive somewhere and not be able to access the service or program. We now have a new webpage that can help you plan your visit.

Whether a sidewalk is closed for repairs or an elevator is unavailable, you can now find this information in one spot on our website.

Our new accessibility disruptions webpage lets you quickly check to see if your destination meets your needs.

“We want to make sure everyone can enjoy our facilities. If something is unavailable, it is important that we communicate that,” said Brenda Kelly, the City’s Manager of Asset Management.

“Staff at our facilities update the page as disruptions are identified. This makes sure you have the most up-to-date information available.”

The page displays information for publicly accessible City buildings, pools, libraries, and recreation facilities. It also shows disruptions to bus stops and sidewalks.

You can filter by an address or intersection, category, facility name or type, or area to easily find the information you need. You can view the information on a map, or in a list, whichever you prefer.

Each notice on the webpage includes the reason for the disruption and how long it’s expected. It also shows if there are alternative options available at other locations.

“If you require an accessible changeroom but the one at your favourite pool is temporarily closed, there may be one at another pool,” said Brenda. “The notice will let you know if other options exist so you can find a location that meets your needs.”

The webpage is part of our Accessibility Plan and was developed with funding support from the 2022 Manitoba Accessibility Fund and stakeholder design input.
